The Stillness That Changes Everything

“The best remedy for those who are afraid, lonely or unhappy is to go outside, somewhere where they can be quiet, alone with the heavens, nature and God. Because only then does one feel that all is as it should be.” - Anne Frank

Though I’m out here in California, my heart is with my people back home. As they say, you can take the girl out of Minnesota, but not Minnesota out of the girl. So I’m doing what I can from afar: Donating to community efforts, sending blessings of peace and strength, and checking in often with family (though everyone there feels like kin now).

I was chatting with my daughter in St. Paul the other night, and caught myself saying, “I keep waiting for someone or something to make the insanity stop.” Like a court order, an act of Congress, inter-galactics, or a winter squall so severe that ICE would pack up and leave.

But in the instant I paused to really hear my words, the truth arrived: We are the ones who are going to save us.

Funny thing is, it’s actually one of my favorite talking points and is even the impetus for my book Refine Your Magic. Now it’s come home to roost.

Change is in the air. More and more people are turning away from the noise and into their inner silence. It’s here that a revolution is emerging, different from all of the others that came before. Its power source comes from within, where a growing majority is finding strength in a new, enlightened way forward.

It’s time. This shift is gaining momentum to the point where it’s now unstoppable, but you’ll not find it making headlines.

Because it’s not like the loud social movements that have dotted history.

The quiet revolution is internal. Waves of people across the planet are rising in awareness of their spiritual essence, recognizing that, at their core, they are spiritual beings experiencing life in a human body. As they grow tired of the chaos and confusion inherent in this moment of collapsing structures and authoritarian overreach, they find their inner self, or soul, waiting for them with peace, truth, and gentle guidance forward. It’s like a warm hug and a nudge to get going in the right direction.

It’s guided by spirit, that spark of the divine creator within each of us. Whirling and twirling as inspiration flows from within to without in the form of care, compassion, kindness, and courage, even silliness and joy. It rings of hope and is an outward expression of the peace and love found within. It’s millions of people empowered to think, speak, and act in ways that flow with the frequency of love as their strength.

And it’s about showing up where you’re called to be–to use your own gifts, your own voice, and what you have to offer. Love spreads in infinite ways. Every bit counts, adds to the whole, and energizes your next step—along with those around you.

Every time one of us acts from our inner love, it denies fear the energy to grow.

The Noise and Chaos Are Not Working

Constant connectivity, information overload, and productivity obsession add to noise that isn’t just auditory–it is mental, emotional, and digital. This multipronged assault creates fatigue, overwhelm, and hopelessness, taking us out of our power by separating us from our inner peace, and so ourselves.

Things are different now in 2026, though. We, the people, have collectively become wiser and less vulnerable to certain types of messaging and attempts to pit us against one another. What’s more, our awareness is rising. More of us are simply not buying the hate that’s peddled by fearful people clinging to an outdated world slipping from their hands. They’re playing by an old set of rules. One that’s built on fear and resentment, to sow anger and division. Then adds brutality and force to stoke the fire.

But it’s not working anymore for one reason: Human evolution is fueling this quiet revolution. Everything on this planet changes, evolves, moves forward. Humans are no exception. Waves of us have awakened and are becoming more connected to our feelings, emotions, intuition, compassion, and community. These feminine energies that were once derided as weak are the new superpower.

Over time, as fear finds fewer and fewer places to stick, it will run out of gas and putter out. Our job is to persist in flowing love in all its forms–tipping the scales to hasten that day.

What the Quiet Revolution Is (and Is Not)

As with other chaotic times in history, the quiet revolution is not disengagement or withdrawal; it is not anti-technology or anti-progress. It’s not angry, weak, or turning a blind eye. Rather, it’s choosing to be intentional with your energy, focusing it on actions taken from a place of love that feel good at the time.

New York Times Opinion columnist David Brooks, while recently discussing the No Kings movement, noted how it lacked the leadership needed to make a revolution successful. Top-down structures, however, are part of the patriarchal past and how things used to be done.

The beauty of the quiet revolution lies in grassroots, or bottom-up, inspired action. It starts with the people, and here’s what makes it so infinitely powerful: It is the light within that leads us all forward. That unites as one. And that is exquisitely orchestrating a spiritual revolution with plans and reinforcements beyond what any one of us can possibly see, fathom, or even imagine. It’ll be a great story one day. In the meantime, our job is to show up—how, when, and where inspiration calls, do our part, and trust.

Awareness as Awakening

Presence is an act of resistance in a culture of urgency. The easiest thing to do when triggered is to react from a place of anxiety and fear, which seldom makes things better and tends to amplify an already tense situation. Better is to take a breath and a beat, then respond from your heart. Reflection, mindfulness, meditation, and time in nature create space for the next step to arrive, one that responds from love rather than a knee-jerk reaction.

The Ripple Effect

Work done in silence can be revolutionary. Individual presence influences collective culture. Small shifts create lasting change. We each have a role and a space to fill in this brilliant mosaic. Big and small, all matter. Quiet leadership and unseen impact shift the tide.

You may feel inspired to join a rally, write a letter, deliver groceries to a neighbor, plant a community garden, donate some cash, create a new app, or open a neighborhood art center. Who knows? And there’s the beauty. The sky’s the limit as each of us finds our own calling. From a place of awareness, you can release your fears in order to hear what love has to say.

The genius of it all? It’s as close and inseparable from you as your heartspace.
